🔒 Privacy policy

Short version: we don't want your data. Mplampla has no accounts, no sign-ups and no forms that ask who you are.

What we store

  • When you press 😂 or 🚩 we save a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address, so each person counts once. We can't turn it back into your IP.
  • Your browser remembers which posts you've already 😂'd (local storage on your device, never sent anywhere).
  • Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page, time, browser) for security and to stop abuse. They're deleted automatically.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads from Google. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google Ad Settings, and read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Your choice

Visitors from the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked first. Until you press Accept all, Google Analytics runs cookieless and ads are not personalised. You can change your choice any time via Cookie settings.

Pictures from other websites

Images and videos are shown straight from the site where they were posted (Lemmy, Mastodon, Bluesky, xkcd and so on), so your browser loads them from there, and those sites can see a normal web request.

Our Facebook app (“MplaMpla”)

We use a Facebook app called MplaMpla for one thing only: to publish posts from mplampla.com to our own MplaMpla Facebook Page, and to manage (for example delete) those posts.

  • The app is used only by the site owner. It has no Facebook login for visitors and never asks anyone else for permission.
  • Its permissions (pages_show_list, pages_manage_posts, pages_read_engagement, and, if we connect our Instagram account, instagram_basic and instagram_content_publish) are used only for our own Page and Instagram account.
  • It does not collect, store, sell or share personal data of Facebook or Instagram users: no names, profiles, friends, messages, comments or likes.
  • What we keep: the access token for our own Page (stored privately on our server, never shared) and the IDs of the posts we published, so nothing gets posted twice.
  • Comments and reactions on our Page are stored by Facebook under Meta's privacy policy, not by us.

We don't hold personal data about you, but you can always ask: see Data deletion.
